Bumbleride I-205OC Review

Bumbleride I-205OC Review by sorrymissjackson (Cali)

We narrowed our search down to what we thought were the safest, most functional, three wheel strollers. Between the BOB Revolution SE, BOB Sport Utility Stroller, and the Bumbleride Indie, we chose the Bumbleride Indie. But because the BOB SUS does not have the option of a swivel front wheel, we took it off our list. Either stroller would fit perfectly in the back of my RAV4. If looks are a concern, the Revolution SE seemed boxy, while the Bumbleride Indie seemed rounded if that makes any sense. The BOB's 5 point straps and shoulder cushions were a little tough and rough. The Indie straps and cushions were soft. Maybe a little too soft. The Bumbleride Indie has a Natural Edition and a Movement Edition: the Natural Edition offers two different colors- Walnut and Ocean. We chose Ocean which is a very deep, dark navy blue. The fabric is made of a bamboo blend, and recycled exterior fabric. The Movement Edition offers water-resistant sport fabric. All editions, including the general colors offer SPF 45 sun canopy.

The BOB SE has a plastic window on top of the canopy in order to take a peak at your little one, which I liked. The Indie has a mesh window instead. The BOB is really for joggers/runners and if you are not a jogger/runner, and like the looks of the Indie compared to the BOB, get the Indie. Since we weren't hardcore joggers to begin with...the Indie seemed more practical after we tested out and compared its functions as well as the aesthetics to the BOB. The Bumbleride Indie is perfect for speed walking (on dirt, gravel), and the occasional jog/run. I'll take a short stroll to our mailbox which is down a 200ft dirt road, and then continue for a nice, leisure walk, and sometimes speed walk around our block which is a combo of dirt roads and asphalt, minor hills, and one steep dirt road back home.

We currently have the Britax Chaperone and the Indie is compatible.

Bumbleride Indie:

- comes with car seat adapter adapter
- easy to collapse
- handles are adjustable to height.
- the foot rest is able to be pushed up. I use this feature when we bundle her up in her blankets, keeping her tucked in, blankets don't fall out. She is a very active baby who likes to kick and stomp her feet on the bar and the foot rest.
- urban-friendly
- chic

In order to place the carseat in the stroller, we recline the stroller completely, and adjust the stroller adapter up to fit over the grooves on the back of the carseat. Very easy. This is where the adjustable handle bar comes in handy. We lower the bar in order to push and pull the stroller as we sit down and try to lull our baby to sleep.

I have read that the stroller also can work as a changing table. I have not tried this. We just stroll her back to the car and change her in there.

Bumbleride I-205OC Review by Erin R. (Santa Monica)

As a disclaimer, I should preface this review by saying that the Bumbleride Indie I owned was the 2009 "Spice" version and not the 2011 version; however, the 2011 version has the same issue! I used my Bumbleride Indie almost everyday since May of 2010 for an average of 3 hours a day. This included walking around the neighborhood, down to the beach, to the YMCA, the playground and to the grocery store. I would not say I abused the Bumbleride, but I did put the stroller through its paces in the manner by which the company advertises. I bought the Bumbleride because it was a terrific all-terrain stroller -- and it was -- until last week.

I was leaving the grocery store, pushed on the stroller handlebar, when one side broke off -- completely. There was nothing hanging off of it (which I never do anyway), the stroller just ran out of steam. I looked to see where it broke, and apparently every Indie has a weak point where it folds. If you look at the side of the Indie, you can see a thin piece of plastic that is "supported" by two plates of metal -- one on either side. On BOTH sides of my Indie, the metal had broken off, and the plastic was slowly wearing down. The other side was about to break off as well and the plastic was bending back and forth. I have looked at newer models to see if they have fixed this by installing actual metal at these weak points, but the design remains the same despite numerous complaints you can find scattered across the internet by searching "Bumbleride Indie frame broke." The problem seems to be more prevalent in the twin, which makes sense because more pressure would be placed at those same weak points with two seats. You can see the problem in the photos I uploaded.

Bumbleride offers a year long warranty, so if this problem occurs early on, you're in luck. This was not the case for me unfortunately. I loved my stroller and was planning to use it until my child no longer wanted to sit in it. Unfortunately, if this is what you're looking for in a stroller as well, I am sad that I can't recommend the Bumbleride. It's sad, because I truly loved this stroller and prior to this incident, I recommended it to everyone I knew.

Bumbleride I-205OC Review by Dana

Our baby is due at the end of the month so other than wheeling the stroller around the house we haven't used it yet. We had a difficult time actually finding a local store where we could go view it. We were lucky and ended up running into a couple in a baby store who had one and did a complete demonstration for us. I feel like this is a good hybrid stroller. More versatile then you mall stroller but not a cumbersome as a jogger. It is very light and easy to collapse. I feel really good about our purchase.
